In addition to UAH students, faculty, and staff, members of the community may also receive Library privileges, with the following conditions and requirements. If you have any questions concerning the type of Library privileges that you may be eligible for, please contact the Circulation Desk at 256-824-6530.


UAH Students - If you are currently enrolled at UAH, bring your validated student ID "Charger Card" to the Circulation desk. You will be asked to produce a photo I.D. and proof of address. Undergraduates may check out up to 25 items at a time, for a period of 28 days at a time; graduate students may check out up to 50 items for periods of 90 days.

UAH Faculty and Staff - Bring your Faculty/Staff ID "Charger Card" to the Circulation Desk to activate your Library privileges. These privileges allow you check out up to 50 items at a time for 1 year at a time. Part-time Staff may check out up to 50 items for periods of 90 days.

UAH Alumni - If you are a graduate of UAH, you are eligible for Library privileges at no cost. These privileges allow you to check out up to 5 items at a time for a period of 28 days at a time. In order to receive these privileges you must present, at the Circulation Desk, either an Alumni Card or a photocopy of your diploma, along with a picture I.D. and proof of address.

Active Duty Military/NASA - An active member of the Armed Forces or a NASA employee may receive free library privileges. These privileges allow you check out up to 5 items at a time, for a period of 28 days at a time. You must present your military or NASA I.D. at the Circulation Desk, along with proof of address. (This applies only to active military members and to persons working directly for NASA, and does not apply to employees of contractors.)

Local 4-year Colleges/Universities - If you attend a 4 year college that has a reciprocal agreement with Salmon Library, you may receive free library privileges. These privileges allow you to check out 5 items at a time, for 28 days at a time. In order to obtain these free privileges you must show a current picture I.D. from the college you attend (a tuition statement from your college for the current semester will also be accepted, with a photo ID), and proof of address. If your college does not have such an agreement with Salmon Library, you may still obtain library privileges for a set, yearly fee. Local 2-year or Junior College Students - If you attend a 2-year or junior college that has a reciprocal agreement with Salmon Library, you may receive library privileges for a yearly fee of $15.00. These privileges allow you to check out 5 items at a time, for 28 days at a time. In order to receive these privileges you must present a schedule or tuition statement from your college for the current semester to show that you are enrolled, present a photo ID and proof of address. If your college does not have such an agreement with Salmon Library, you may still obtain library privileges for a set, yearly fee. - If you do not fall into any of the categories previously described, you may obtain library privileges for a set, yearly usage fee. This usage fee entitles you to check out up to 5 items at a time, for a period of 28 days at a time. The fee for these privileges is $50.00, for one year from the date of purchase. You will also be required to present a photo ID and proof of address at the Circulation Desk.

Faulkner - If you attend Faulkner University, you may obtain free library privileges based upon institutional contract. These privileges allow you to check out up to 10 books at a time, for 28 days at a time. In order to obtain these privileges you must show a schedule or tuition statement from Faulkner for the current semester, present a photo ID, and proof of address at the Circulation Desk.
